Welcome to the Calgary Seed Library

Who are we?

The Calgary Seed Library is a grassroots organization (pun intended!) created by a group of pals. Our dream is to form a community of growers who can borrow from our seed collection and return seeds from their harvest back to it.

What’s a Seed Library?

It’s exactly what it sounds like. We have a growing collection of seeds available to growers of all experience levels. By becoming a member, you can borrow seeds to grow, then harvest some off your plants to return to us. That’s what keeps us going!

Share your support

Since we are a budding organization donations make a big difference for us. If you donate to the Calgary Seed Library you’re helping with food security, education in growing food and flowers, and helping people learn how to save seeds for the next year.

Meet new people, learn how to grow, collect seed, and share knowledge. come get your hands dirty with us!

  • Become a volunteer and share your talents with us. We love all kinds of skill sets. Is it that you’re great at communicating? Smart with organisation? Love to collect seeds in the sunshine? whatever it is, let us know how you would like to help!

  • Borrow seeds from the library and harvest and bring them back at the end of the season. by growing plants and harvesting seeds in the same place we are creating plants that are well adapted to our climate in Calgary.

  • We are completely volunteer run. By donating to us you are helping educate others about seed saving and helping to create food sovereignty for all.
